A man who assaulted three people, including an elderly man and an emergency worker, will be spending this Christmas behind bars.

Leroy Davies, 52, of Grosvenor Road, Aldershot, pleaded guilty to two assaults and assaulting a police staff member at Basingstoke Magistrates Court,

The court heard how Davies was seen on CCTV in Aldershot town centre, punching two unknown men and kicking an elderly Nepalese man at around 4.30pm on December 17.

Officers were deployed to the scene and he was arrested.

He continued to be abusive and when in custody he kicked a detention officer in the chest.

Yesterday (December 20) he was jailed for a total of eight weeks.

Inspector Phil Mayne said: “Even though the two men assaulted in the town centre did not come forward and report the assaults, we had enough evidence to take action against Davies.

“We hope this reassures residents that we will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice, using all evidence available to us.

“We are pleased that Davies will be safely behind bars this festive season, making the town safer for everyone.”
