Southampton man jailed for series of burglaries

A man has been jailed after a series of burglaries in Southampton.

Macauley Bowers, aged 22, of Albion Towers, Southampton was charged with nine burglary offences following an investigation by Operation Hawk, based at Southampton Central Police Station.

The burglaries occurred between 26 September and 7 November; the homes affected were on Rothschild Close, Brookvale Road, Pentire Avenue, Redhill Crescent, Bassett Crescent East, Athelstan Road, Moorhill Road, Glenwood Avenue and Missenden Acres.

Bowers pleaded guilty to nine counts of burglary and asked for five other counts to be taken into consideration.

He was sentenced today (18 December) at Southampton Crown Court to five years and four months in prison.

PC Charlie Buckingham from the Operation Hawk team said:

“Burglary is a distressing crime and the Operation Hawk team are delighted to have brought the person responsible for this series to justice.

“We are determined to tackle burglaries and other crimes that impact on our local communities.”
