Warning about cold calling in the New Forest

New Forest residents are being warned about cold calling after an elderly woman was charged over £2,500 for drainage work in Lymington.

Following a cold call from a company offering to inspect the victim’s drains, workers arrived at her home in St Thomas Park at 9.30am on Monday 3 September.

They initially used a camera to obtain images of her drains and stayed for about two and a half hours to do the work they said was needed.

The victim then used her bank card to paid a bill of £2,514.
